Skyhorse/Start is having a super-sale of my novel I Am Providence; it is only $1.99 on various ebook sites for the next little while. It was a surprise to me that it was lowered last night and I have no idea when the price may go back up.
These sales are designed to manipulate the sales ranks, especially on Amazon, where ebook readers often browse by clicking on various charts. For example, I Am Providence right now is the #4 ranked book on the tiny list of Kindle eBook > Mystery, Thriller, & Suspense > Suspense > Ghosts
The hope is that when the price goes back up, the rank will be “sticky” for a day or two, and browsers will be tempted by such a successful book, even at a higher price. Who knows if such things work, especially when one can buy five novels for a dollar (see that #5 ranked title on the image above) instead, but here’s hoping.
Amazon has certainly changed everything about the book trade.
