Poor Yorick Editorial Team

Hi Everyone,

Poor Yorick is looking for new staff members for this summer and Fall as many of the current members of the journal staff will be graduating. For me working on the journal has been a tremendously rewarding experience and I’ve learned an incredible amount about writing and the publishing world. It’s also paid dividends professionally. I recently was offered (and have accepted) a full time position at Connecticut Magazine. During my application process one of the things that they were most impressed with was my involvement with Poor Yorick and some of the ways in which we’ve been able to market this online journal to writers and future readers (side note: please follow me on twitter @erikofgang).
We’re going to hold our next meeting in late April (after thesis is due) at a date and time still to be determined. But we will definitely announce it here and I would encourage anyone interested in finding out more about the journal to attend.
It really is an enriching and rewarding experience and I would strongly urge anyone interested in forging a successful career as a writer (regardless of genre) to take advantage of this opportunity to get real world experience and build your professional resume.

Congratulations Erik on your new job. I would agree with Erick that working on Poor Yorick will get you noticed in your job search. I am going to a editing job interview next week due to my work on PY.

    Congratulations, Erik!

  3. Just to add on from another associate editor. While it seems like a lot of work, to work on Poor Yorick, we do a good job of spreading things around so that no one gets buried. But, ultimately that also depends on how many people volunteer to work.

Come to a meeting and see for yourself. We love having company and hearing opinions about Poor Yorick. It’s up to the students to keep this alive!

when is the next meeting so we can get a sense of time commitment? I would love to help but going into my thesis semester I don’t want to take on too much and fall down.
