The Conference will be held in the University Center at Southeast Missouri State University, with an Open Mike on Friday night after the banquet.

Keynote speakers:

Allison Joseph is the author of six books of poetry. Among her awards are the John C. Zacharis First Book Prize and fellowships from the Bread Loaf and Sewanee Writers Conferences. She is editor of Crab Orchard Review and director of the SIUC MFA Program in Creative Writing.

Jon Tribble is managing editor of Crab Orchard Review and series editor of the Crab Orchard Series in Poetry. He is the recipient of an Artist Fellowship Award in Poetry from the Illinois Arts Council and the Campbell Corner Poetry Prize from Sarah Lawrence College. His poems have appeared in many top-notch journals He teaches creative writing and literature at SIUC.

Paper proposals :

Any student currently enrolled in a graduate writing program may propose a presentation. Proposal abstracts should be 300 words maximum and may cover any topic on creative, technical, new media, or composition writing, such as
•      Intersections of cross genre writing
•      Blurring boundaries in writing
•      Innovative pedagogies
•      MemWars:  Defining fact and fiction
•      Creativity and composition
•      Friend Me with Your Best Shot: Social media strategies
•      It Takes a Village: Collaborative Writing and/or Collaborative Learning
•      Issues and Trends in Visual Rhetoric (documents, page layout, bookcovers, art/a/fact, edesign, etc.)

Proposals are submitted electronically. The deadline for proposals is December 1, 2013. Please indicate on the registration form if you will be participating in the open mike with 5-15 minutes of reading. Send to Dr. Missy Phegley, mphegley@semo.edu or Dr. Susan Swartwout, sswartwout@semo.edu

Registration for the two-day conference is $55.  Registration forms are due before February 15, 2014.
