Call for Papers, Poetry, and Stories

Hello All,

The Popular Culture Association and American Culture Association will hold their annual conference March 27-30 2013 in Washington, D.C.

Proposing a Paper

Last year the conference was held in Boston, and I was fortunate enough to have a paper accepted. There are several opportunities for partial funding, and this conference is a great way to promote yourself as a writer, academic, or just to show off the research you’ve done on feminist subversion and heteronormativity in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Pretty much anything dealing with an aspect of literature, popular culture, and/or American culture is fair game. It’s a whole lot of fun, and a great opportunity to present a paper.

The Missouri Review is also looking for submissions for its 22nd Annual Editor’s Prize. With substantial prizes for fiction, poetry, and essays, this is definitely a contest worth entering.

For local writers, the Danbury Library is organizing a literary reading to be held on Sunday, October 21st.

Finally, today is the last day to submit entries for Glimmer Train’s short story award for new writers (deadline extended).  September is also the month of Glimmer Train’s Fiction Open.

Happy Writing,
