Poetry Call for Entries

Folks, if you do this sort of thing, I encourage you to send some work to The Newtowner, which is looking for some excellent work. Dick Allen, poet laureate of CT, will be the judge. You do not need to be a CT resident. It’s a nice little journal. I ahve a poem coming out there in the fall.

THE NEWTOWNER International Poetry Award is open to poets of all ages, both national and international. Poems may be no longer than 35 lines in length. Each entrant may enter a maximum of three poems. Deadline for entries is June 1, 2012 with winners notified by September 7, 2012, and prizes awarded at the Newtown Arts Festival on September 15, 2012. Entry fee: $10 for up to three poems. First place receives $US500.00 cash prize, publication in THE NEWTOWNER magazine, and 2 copies of the issue of THE NEWTOWNER in which the winning poem appears. Names of entrants that receive second and third place and honorable mentions will be listed in the Fall 2012 issue of THE NEWTOWNER and announced at the Newtown Arts Festival. Conditions: Poems must not be previously published. Though I am not a poet by any means, I highly endorse this. For those who don’t know, Dick Allen was my writing mentor in college for a few years. He helped me develop my foundation for the work I do today. He is a great guy and will be a fair and honest judge. Good luck!
